Eyelash

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are fibers attached to your natural lashes for a longer, fuller, and darker look.

What is the difference between classic, hybrid, volume, and mega volume?

Classic: A single eyelash is applied to each of your natural lashes. They are soft to the touch, light on your eyes, and perfectly natural looking.

Hybrid: This 50/50 blend of Classic lashes and Volume fans combines the classic and volume application techniques, resulting in a fuller, fluffier, more textured look.

Volume: Thinner and lighter eyelash extensions are fanned, staggered, and stacked onto each natural lash, allowing the technician to add volume to your lashes. Each fan includes 3-5 lashes.

Mega volume: The Mega Volume lash set offers clients the highest level of density and thickness for maximum glamour. Each fan includes 6-10 eyelashes.

Please see our Gallery for examples.

Aftercare instructions

Follow these tips to ensure your lashes maintain their quality as long as possible:

  • Be gentle with your lashes
  • No touching, rubbing, water, sweat, or steam for 24 hours.
  • Use our "Lash Extender" nourishing serum to protect the adhesive bond of the lash extensions.
  • Avoid running water directly on your lashes.
  • Avoid oily products (including some sunscreen products) on or near your lashes.
  • Do not use any eye-makeup removers containing P.E.G. (polyethylene glycol), propylene glycol, or any other glycol-based ingredients; this will result in a failure of your lashes to bond. A water-based eye-makeup remover is suggested.

If you insist on mascara, use only water-based mascara and apply it middle to tip avoiding root area (Classic sets only). Repeated use of even water-soluble mascara may shorten the life of the lashes. Do not use mascara at all on Hybrid or Volume sets.
  • Use eye creams sparingly and avoid your lash/lid area. Careless use of eye creams and moisturizers will shorten the lifespan of your lashes.
  • Use water-based eye makeup remover only!
  • Do not perm or curl your lashes.
  • Avoid sleeping on your new eyelashes.
  • Do not pick at or pull on your lashes. Refrain from excessive rubbing.
  • If you want them removed, please return to the salon. We will remove them at no cost.
  • Brush your lashes daily with a dry mascara wand to keep them tangle-free.
  • Touch-ups are recommended every 2 to 4 weeks.
  • Use shampoo specific for lashes regularly to keep them clean. This will help them last longer. This light, foaming cleanser keeps your lashes clean and extends their life.

What are some common problems during an eyelash extension session?

The glue may irritate your eyes and you may feel a slight burning sensation. If this occurs, please let your lash technician know immediately. If this happens, your eyes may water for a short time, but this discomfort doesn’t last long; typically, no more than 15 minutes.

What happens during an eyelash extension session?

After choosing the style and length, we do the following:

  1. Wash your eyelashes, to make sure there is no oil, dust, or residual makeup on your eyelash.
  2. Apply under-eye stickers/gel patches.
  3. Remove outgrown or inclined eyelashes.
  4. Apply the eyelash extensions to your natural eyelashes.
  5. Let the glue dry and get ready for your checkup.
  6. Adjust and modify eyelashes until you are satisfied.

Common problems after eyelash extension session

  • A slight burning sensation in your eyes
  • Itchiness around the eyelash extension
  • Lashes poking into your eyes
Please let your lash technician know the problem.

Eyelash size chart

Eyelash thickness for each style:
Classic: usually 0.15 mm
Hybrid: usually 0.10 mm
Volume: usually 0.7 or 0.5 mm

Mega volume: 0.3 mm Eyelash curl:

J: closest to human eyelashes

B: natural/curly balance
C: most popular, used to create a luscious look
D: most-liked, trendy & fashionable to create a glamorous look
D+ (or DD) latest trends: most curly to create a lovely look
L: longer eyelash curls to create a defined look

What style should I choose?

See a Super Lash artist for a free consultation.
General guidelines:

  • small eyes: choose the open style
  • thin, weak natural eyelashes: volume
  • thick, many natural eyelashes: classic
  • if you like a dramatic look: mega volume

What length of eyelash should I choose?

Standard is 2mm longer than your natural eyelashes. Specifically, choose a length no more than 2-3 mm longer than your natural eyelash and match the diameter to your natural eyelash (though a slightly thicker lash may be chosen for a more dramatic look).

Eyelashes are available in lengths up to 20mm and diameters as thick as 0.30mm! If your natural eyelashes are 10mm long and 0.10 mm thick, applying significantly longer lashes, for example, 20mm/0.20mm lashes, is not recommended because they will not survive long and may even be too heavy.

Comparing classic, hybrid, volume, and mega volume sets

  • “Classic”: a single lash is adhered to as many natural lashes as required to achieve the desired result.
  • “Volume” and “Mega Volume”: 3D or 5D fans are adhered to as many natural lashes as required to achieve the desired look.
  • “Hybrid”: a combination of single faux lashes and volume fans are adhered to as many natural lashes as required to achieve the desired look.

Eyelash set consultation

We do not count lashes like some other salons, only applying a certain number. Every person and every eye is unique. We apply as many eyelashes as required to achieve the desired look (Natural or Glamour). We offer a range of different eyelash set options to choose from -- Classic, Hybrid, or Volume.

Your technician will show you the options and recommend which would best fit your natural eye shape. They will explain the different eyelash types (individual extensions and volume eyelash fans), thickness, and curl, and will suggest what would work best for your natural eyelashes.

If you’re new to eyelash extensions, we recommend that you trust your technician’s judgment and relax and enjoy the service. Anything, from naturally understated to extreme glamour, is possible — it’s all up to you.

How do I prepare for an eyelash extension session?

Please arrive at the salon 10 minutes before your appointment. We do not guarantee appointments for late arrivals, nor can we extend the time period of your appointment.

Before arriving:

  1. Remove Eye Makeup: makeup near the eye area must be removed before the application process. We recommend a mild, oil-free cleanser.

Avoid oil-based makeup removers. Please remove all makeup from the eye area including eyelash strips/tabs, mascara, and eyeliner.

  2. Do not apply face creams or sunblock to the eye area. The oil found in many moisturizers prevents eyelash adhesive from bonding to the natural eyelash and will reduce the longevity of your extensions.

  3. Do not curl your natural lashes for at least 1 month before your appointment. Extensions will not adhere to crimped eyelashes.

  4. Clean your lashes thoroughly, removing all oils, dirt particles, and mascara. Please remove any prior eyelash extensions before your appointment, or we will need to charge an extra fee to remove them.

  5. For your comfort and safety, children may not accompany client while experiencing services unless with another adult appointed to supervise.

Extension procedures

  • The procedure can take anywhere from 30 minutes for a refill to 90 minutes for a full set. The procedure is completely safe and non-intrusive – the faux lashes are applied to each natural eyelash and never contact your skin. Simply lay down in one of our comfortable beds and relax – listen to music, read a book, or nap.
  • If cared for properly, eyelash extensions can last 3 to 5 weeks depending on your natural lash cycle.
  • Be sure to read our aftercare instructions. We carry several aftercare products that we recommend to keep your extensions looking good and help improve their longevity.
  • We recommend coming in every 2 to 3 weeks for maintenance refills.
DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATER-PROOF MASCARA. Waterproof mascara or any oil-based mascara can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions, causing them to fall sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off eye makeup in general. Only use an oil-free, water-based eye makeup remover. The adhesive is waterproof so you may shower, exercise, etc. We recommend that you do not wash your eye area for 12- 24 hours after the eyelash application. Special care is required, but overall maintenance is low.

Natural eyelash facts

  • Your upper eyelid has approximately 90-150 lashes
  • The bottom eyelid has 70-80 lashes.
  • Most eyelashes grow to about 10mm, just over 3/8 of an inch.
THREE PHASES OF THE LASH GROWTH CYCLE

Even though it may not seem like it, every hair on your body has a growth cycle: It will grow to a specific length, complete its full cycle, and then fall out. There are three phases to all hair growth cycle, including eyelashes:
  • Active Growth Phase: Approximately 40% of the upper eyelashes are in this phase at any one time. This phase lasts 30-45 days.
  • Transitional Phase: During this phase, the eyelash stops growing and the follicle shrinks. This lasts 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Resting Phase: This phase can last over 100 days before the eyelashes fall out.
Important Note: each eyelash is on its own cycle, so there are lashes in each phase at all times. As a result, on most days, at least a few eyelashes will fall out.

Do eyelash extensions ruin your real lashes?

They do not! This is a common myth. If applied correctly, lash extensions are safe and do not harm the health of your natural lashes. If the lashes are applied properly—and to each individual lash—they will not fall out. Lash extensions are attached to the natural lash about 1 mm away from the lash line to ensure proper shedding and cleanliness as this photo.

DO EYELASHES GROW BACK? Yes, they do, but it might take a couple of months, especially if you have interrupted the natural growth cycle. For example, if you pull your eyelashes out, you will be without any visible eyelashes for a period before they grow back and get to the resting phase. If you have been pulling your eyelashes out, the lash still has to finish its growth cycle. A new lash will not grow any faster simply because the other hair was prematurely removed. This may create a less-than-full look while the lashes grow back. When wearing extensions, you mustn't pull or tug on them; doing so will put your natural lashes at risk. Do not fear, however. There are excellent lash serums that can help nurse your natural lashes back to health and fullness.

How long do extensions last?

Most extensions will last for four weeks, falling out with the natural lash. Some lashes will be lost within a couple of weeks as part of the natural cycle; we recommend that you get a refill every 2-3 weeks to maintain your lash extensions. Understanding the growth cycle of an eyelash can be helpful. At any one time, all of your lashes are in different stages of growth; as a result, natural shedding will continually occur. Lashes in the corner of your eyes fall out first because oil and residual sweat from your upper lid travel to the corner. In addition, if you sleep on your side, the lashes at the edge of your eye will touch the pillow, causing the glue to break.
